Has anyone considered training ambulatory adults with CP to learn how they use their body to manage their center of gravity in upright postures?

Mary Weck, PT, now deceased, trained a lawyer - age 40 years -with diplegic CP to realign his body weight over his feet and to strengthen his trunk and lower limb extensor muscles over a course of 4 years of coaching and practice. He was on the brink of losing his ability to walk across his office when he found her. No one stretched his muscles or shot toxin into them.

The attention to bodyweight displacement in this population - typically too far forward on the feet - is a key element of the CP rehab program at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago.

I have attached a rewritten version of their poster presentation that appeared as an abstract in Gait & Posture in 1994. The paradigm is well defined and worthy of serious consideration by us all.
